The Information and Examination of John Goss< no role > of
Cable Street Ruth Wellclose Square Pawn
Broker taken before me this 8th. day
of Decemr. 1788 .

Who being on Oath says that in about
a Week after the Arch Bishop of Canter-
bury's Palace at Lambeth had been broke
open and a considerable Quantity of Plate
stolen therein Willm. Mitchell< no role > who keeps
the Anchor and Crown public House in
black Horse Yard East Smithfield came
to this Examinant and asked him if
he could run down Silver Examinant
said he could Said Mitchell said he
could buy a Quantity of Terray Finlay
and that if this Examt: would assist in
the Business he should have a Share of
the Profit, to which this Examt. consented.
That they then went together to buy Cruci-
bles and Moulds to melt said Plate in
That at abt. 8 o Clock in the Evening Examt.
went to said [..] Mitchell's House for when he Mitchell
produced from a Back Room 27. silver
Plates, beaded on the Edges, with a Coat of
Arms engraved on the Rims , and the Wright
mark'd on the Backs, which was from
17 to near 18 Ounces each. That said Mitchell
cut 6 or 7 of said Plates into small Pieces
with an Ax, at which time said Finlay
came into the Room and observed that they
