The Information of John Shortridg< no role > Mate of the Brig Providence
Incndse John Walker< no role > Master in the Coal Trade now lying at Bell Wharff
in the said County and Samuel William< no role > Charouneace Servant to Mr.
Mathews of the Minories in the City of London Pawnbroker Taken
this 24th. day of January 1789 before me one of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace in and for the said County and first the said John
Shortridge
< no role > on his Oath saith that he was in Company with the
person present who says her Name is Harriot Vale< no role > at the House
of Sarah Woodrosle< no role > in Pratts Buildings [..] New Gravel Lane
Shadwell on the 22d. day of January Instant where he was Robbed of a Silver Watch of the Value of
forty Shillings and seven Shillings in Silver And further saith that
he doth verily believe that the said Harriot Vale and the two persons
Also present who says their Names are Sarah Woodroffe< no role > and Michael
Mc. Daniel
< no role > are the persons who stole the said Watch and Money as
aforesaid and that the Watch produced by Samuel William
Charouneau
< no role > is his property and is the same watch that was stolen
from him as aforesaid And the said Samuel William Charouneau
on his Oath says that yesterday Afternoon the two persons present
who say their Names are Michael Mc. Daniel and Sarah Woodroffe< no role >
pledged the said Silver Watch with him at the shop of Mr. Mathews
for the sum of fifteen shillings in the name of Sarah Woodroffe< no role >

Harriot Vale< no role > says she never did drink with John Shortridge< no role > nor ever was in his Company in her life. That the night
John Shortridge< no role > lay in the house of Sarah Woodroffe< no role > she lay in the same Room with her child in a seperate Red who awaked her about
Six o Clock Yesterday Morning and asked her for his watch, That she told him to ask his Ship master they may be had took his Watch
for she had it not

Sarah Woodroffe< no role > says the night before last between the hours of Twelve and one John Shortridge< no role > came to her house
No. 3 Pratts Buildings New Gravel Lane Shadwell who asked her if he could have had says she last him have a Bed for which he
paid her One Shilling having a Girl with him who she doth not know. That he took a Candle went to bed up Stairs. The said
Girl desired her not to fasten the door as she should went to go out before she went to bed That said Girl came down Stairs in
about a Quarter of an hour after went out and did not return says Harriot Vale did not come home until the hour of
Two in the morningThat when John Shortridge< no role > came he was in liquor much so had lost one of his Shoe buckles and the Stocking of the same beg very
dirty says she asked him if he had any thing particular about him for her to take care off in the Morning who told her he had not any thing and is certain
he had not any watch if he had she must have seen that he had by this Trowsers. That she did not know when he went away in the morning says the Watch
produced was given to her (by Thomas Maddy< no role > gone to India) a little before Christmas last which watch she and [..] Michael Mc. Daniel< no role > pawned Yesterday
[..] Mr. Mathews pawnbroker in [..] The Minories London for fifteen Shillings and received the Duplicate produced for the same

Michael Mc. Daniel Says he doth not know any thing of John Shortridge< no role > bed that he saw Thomas Maddy< no role > give a Watch to Sarah
Sarah Woodroffe< no role > before Christmas last That yesterday he went by desire of Sarah Woodroffe< no role > to a Pawnbroker in the Minories where she pawned
a Silver Watch by the look of it for fifteen Shillings that he did not say said Watch was his that he did not near Mr. Woodroffe say to the Pawnbroker

Taken signed and declared to be the smith by the said Harriott Vale
