The Informations of James Valentine< no role > James
Holder
< no role > & William Cooke< no role > taken upon Oath the 15th.
Day of October 1789

Who upon their several Oaths say and first the said
James Valentine< no role > for himself saith that on Thursday night the
8th. of October Instant about [..] eleven o'Clock he went to the Lodgings
of the Prisoner Elizabeth Carpenter< no role > at Mr. Price's in Broad Street St. Giles's
that some Liquor being called for he pulled the Money out
of his Pockett to pay for the same but upon recollecting himself
he thought he had done wrong in producing his Money and
therefore he immediately took the same being nine Guineas
& an half in Gold & Sixpence in Silver and put the same into
one of his Boots that he afterwards said himself down upon
The Bed by the Prisoner Elizabeth Carpenter< no role > who was then
in Bed and had been so for some Time & lay there about
two Hours when the Prisoner Elizabeth Carpenter [..] awakened
him and asked him if all was safe have you got your Watch
but he made no Answer being afraid least anything worse
shod. have happened that he then got up of the Bed and
immediately went down Stairs in the Dark & was led out of
Doors by some Person who he beleives was Mrs. Price the
Land lady of the House where the Prisoner lodges that by the
Time he had walked the space of one hundred Yards from
the House he missed the Money out of his Boot that when
he got Home he immediately pulled of his Boot & found the
Sixpence at the Bottom there of but the Nine Guineas & an
half was gone and upon looking found his Boot & likewise
one of his Stockings had been not

James Holder< no role > for himself saith that he went along
with James Valentine< no role > on Thursday the 8th. Day of October
Instant about. [..] o Clock at Night to the Lodgings of the
Prisoner Elizabeth Carpenter< no role > at Mr. Prices in Broad Street St. Giles's when some Liquor was
