The Information of Henry Fletcher< no role > Esquire of
No 21 Oxendon Street taken on Oath before one
this 7th. day of August 1789

Who being on Oath says. that between One and Two oClock
on Wednesday the twenty Ninth day of July last as he was walking along
Charlotte Street Rathbone Place he saw the Prisoner now present who calls
herself Margaret Edwards< no role > standing at a door whom he asked why
she stood therewho Replied that she wanted a place" having left her
place that day, that Informant asked her with whom she had lived
when she mentioned a Lady whose Name he cannot. now Recollect
that Informant thinks he asked her what wages she hadhad,
but very will Remembers her saying that she had Nineteen Guineas
a year that said Edwards then desired Informant to walk on
with her which he did when she knocked at a Door this Informant
standing at a distance And upon her Return to this Informant again
she observed that she had been at that house to enquire for the
Mistress who was not at home. And that the Servant had desired
her to sit down until her Mistress returned which she refused, that
Informant then asked her if she Could get a Character when she Replied
Yesthat she Could get a very good one. And then walked on into
Goodge Street that Informant then asked her where she lived when she
Replied about or near the Adam and Eve with an Aunt that he then called a Coach being tired and told her he would set her down at the Adam and and Eve that when the Coach
came to the Adam and Eve it stopped and the Coachman open'd the
Door on this Informants left side the said Edwards then sitting on
his right that Informant desired him to shut the door, immediately which
he did at which time this Informant was attempting to have
connection with her that whilst he was buttoning his Breeches
up, the said Margaret Edwards< no role > open'd the door on her right and
then Jumped out of the Coach saying that she would go to the
Adam
