The Information of Thomas Tarrett< no role > of
Conway Court near High Street in the Parish of
Saint Mary le bone Lamp lighter taken on Oath
before me this 13th. day of July 1789.

Who being on Oath says that about Nine oClock in
the Evening of Wednesday last the 8th. of July instant under the
Gateway leading to Scotland Yardhe theas he this Informant
was lighting his Lamps he saw the Soldier now present who
calls himself Samuel Alsford< no role > lifting up a gentleman very
much disguised in Liquor at which time the said Samuel
Alsford
< no role > took the Watch from the said Gentlemans fob Pocket
and put it into his own that this Informant then said to
said Samuel Alsford< no role > . "I hope you will take care of the Gentleman
and his property and not make a property of him", that said
Samuel Alsford< no role > replied he would call a Coach and take the
Gentleman away, he then led the Gentleman up Scotland
Yard and Informant saw no more of them.
