The Information of Sylvia Woodcock< no role > taken
before one Edw Read< no role > Esqr. one of his Majestys
Justices of the Peace for the County of Middlesex
who being duly sworn on her oath saith. That she
was Lawfully Married to William Woodcock< no role > in
the Parish Church of Cheshant Kerts< no role > , that she and
her said Husband have not Cohabited together for
some Months. That she lived in a small Appartment
at High Street Enfield - that on Monday last the
27."Instant October her said Husband came to
her and told her he had got an other lodging for
her and insisted on her going with him to see
it. That she left Enfeild with him about two
o'Clock and stopt once on the Road and had
a pint of beer. That boat Seven o'Clock in
the Evening being very Dark, he took her into
a narrow lane. and asked her for the key of her
Lodging, which she refused to give him, saying,
she must first see the Lodging he had taken,
on which he knocked her down with a large
Stick he had in hand and beat her about
her Head and face in a most horrid manner.
when she fell down, and does not know what
happned to her after untill she found herself
in bed in the Workhouse at Chelsea.
