The Information of Ann Root of Wapping Wall as her Brothers Peter Root< no role > St. Paul Shadwell
Baker and Jonathan Adams< no role > servant to Henry Martin< no role > of King James
Stairs in said Parish Victualers taken this 3rd day of Novr 1788 before

Who being on Oath say and first & he the said Ann Root for herself saith
This day between the hours of Twelve and one as she was sitting in her
Brother back Room having command of the shop she saw the Boy present who
saith his name is Charles Williams< no role > behind his Counter in her shop
she got up he run out of the shop she after him into the Street and
called out Six thiefs and that she saw Jonathan Adams< no role > stop him having
not been out of her sight after she went out of said shop=That he was
brought back to his Shop and searched in her presence and the half crown
price two Shilling pieces and two six penny prices produced taken out of one of his
Stockings by Jonathan Adams< no role > who instantly gave them to her
and that she is certain the said half Crown two shillings Two Six penny price went taken out of his till
Jonathan Adams< no role > on his oath saith this day between the hours of
Twelve and one he saw Charles Williams< no role > come out of the shop of
Peter Root< no role > and run towards Star Street hearing Mr. Root call out Stop
thief he pursued took him back and searched him and found in his
Right leg Stocking half a Crown Two Shillings and Two six pences the same
which he gave to Mrs. Root who was present

Charles Williams< no role > saith he went into the shop but did not
take the money he picked it up in a Street before he came to that in
the Cartway that he went into the Shop to buy a Last penny worth
of Gingerbread - when in the shop not having a trund to buy any he
came out again that he generall runs was the cause of his running
away
