August 1788
Who being upon Oath says that on Friday last
about three o' Clock in the Afternoon on the persons
now present who call themselves Aaron Mendoza< no role >
and John Balfort< no role >
came to their Shop together
to redeem a suit of Cloaths and a Hat which had
been pledged ley said Mendoza for one Guinea
that Mendoza produced the duplicate and said
Balfort produced a Bank Note for Twenty Pounds
to pay for said Cloaths That Informant asked
them both their Names when they replied that their
names were Jacob Balfort< no role >
and Aaron Mendoza< no role >
That Informant gave them eighteen Guineas and
one penny as the Balance due upon said Twenty
pound Note that they lack took a part of said
Money and then went away and this Informant
afterwards the same day sent the Note to the Bank
That Yesterday said Mendoza asked this Informant
what he had done with said twenty pound Note
that Informant told him he had sent it to the
Bank the same day Thathe then asked of
Informant
