away, and as he was walking off the witness called out and
desired him to stop that he wanted to speak to him-that he
immediately threw down a board which he had Just taken up,
and Run as fast as he was able, the Witness saw him leap
into a Creek and swim a Cross and get on shore on the other
side. this Informant then Run a near way and soon took
the Prisoner (who calls himself John Fowle Boone< no role > ,) he immedia
-tely begg'd for God sake not to stop him for that he had a Wife
and four small Children-and he is sure it is the same
Person that wanted to take away the Boat not having lost
sight of him the whole time

To Wit}

The information of Thomas Bodman Boat builder near East lane
Stairs Rotherhithe in the County of Surry who on his Oath
saith. that about June last he built a Werry for the Commissioners
of his Majestys Customs that on the 22d: Day of March last he
believes she was Stolen away from his Wharfe in the Night time
that she was (in consequence) Advertised by the said
Commissioners offering a Reward of Ten Pounds to
any Person who shewd Apprehend and convict the
Offender,that on Saturday last the 12th. Instant he
received an order from the said Commissioner to inform
him there was reason to beleive the said Boat was found
Laying in a Creek near Ranclagh at Chelsea and that the
Person who is supposed to have Stolen her was apprehended
and in Custody-and desireing this Informant to go to Chelsea
to examine the said Boat in order to as certain whether
it be the same Boat Stolen from his Premises [..] or not
This informant further saith that he did go to Chelsea on that
very Day Saturday [..] the 12th. Instant and examined
the said Boast and he is very sure, the Boat found in
the Creek at Chelsea is the very same Boat. Built
by him about June last for the Commissioners of his
Majestys Custom house in London, and is the very same
Boat which he believes was Stolen from his Wharfe at Rotherhithe on the 22d. of March
last
