Labourer taken before
me this 5th. day of January 1787

Who being or Oath says that about five oClock on
Monday Evening last as he was going through Cross
Lane
a Woman who stood at the door of a House in
said Lane said to this Informant ''I want to speak
with you" That this Informant replied I dont want
to speak with you she then came up to this
Informant and with the assistance of another
Woman who followed her dragged this Informant
into her House That they then attempted to Pick
his Pocket but he endeavorned to prevent then
That they then struck him and Pick'd his Pocket
of a Bank Note for Twenty Pounds and a brown
Piece That this Informant attempted to get said
Note and Money from them when they called out
" Mrs. Murphy" and the Person now present and
calling herself Mary Murphy< no role >
came form an
Juner
or Room to their Assistance and held
Informants Hands during which time the said
two Women made their Escape and then the said
Murphy turn'd this Informant out of said House
