could not afford to sell them at that Price-that beginning to
suspect that he (Kirby) did not mean to be a purchaser but
privately and Clandestinely to take something out of the Shop
he set about folding up the different pieces in Order to replace then
an the Shelfthat While he was so doing he heard said Kirby ask
this Informant Wife the price of some Cotton Stockings reaching
over the Counter at the same time and taking them in his hand
to look atthat on his disliking the price of the Stockings as he
had before the Handkerchiefs they left the Shopthat about
two Minutes after they had left the Shop her perceived the Bulk
of his Handkerchiefs considerably decreasedthat he then enquired
[..] of his Wife what was become of the India Pattern
Handkerchiefsthat she replied they were in the Window but
not finding them there he communicated his Suspicions to his
Wife of the abovementioned party having taken them away
that during this and other Conversation with his Wife he lost
about four Minetes before he went after them - that on
going out of his Shop and looking about he could not Perceive
either of them but found them soon after in Jews Row
that he changed them and took them into Custody And the said
Jeremiah Bumstead< no role > saith that he was Present when said
Kirby was searchd last night and only two Shillings and
a Watch found upon him
