7th day of April 1786
Who upon their Oaths severally say And first the said
George Scrivener for himself Saith That he lives in Shefield
Street
Clare Market
Butcher
That about the hour of 8 o Clock
on Tuesday Morning last he was in formed That Several
Iron bars were Ripped up and Taken away from his
Dwelling House and upon Examination he gound Eight
Iron Cars had been broken up and Taken away which
said Irons bars were a Fixed to his said Dwelling House
fronting the Street and this Informant saw the same above
the hour of One o Clock the same Morning and that the from
bars now Produced are the same bars which were so
affixed and Broke up and Stolen and Taken away as aforesaid

Saith That he is a Watchman
belonging to the Parish of
Saint Clement Danes
That about a Quarter pash 2 o Clock the
said Tuesday morning he Received Information That Two
werethen were breaking into the Perfumers House which
House is next door but one to Mr Scriveners That he
then gave his Lanthorn to another Watchman and desired him
not to follow him too Close He then proceeded towards
Sheffield Street and he heard somebody doing some thing
lat could not discern what. The then Crossed the Street
and Stopped one John Quarter man and immediately another
person came up who says his Name is William Frederick< no role >
whom he Stopped and he secured Them both and with some
Assistance Took them both to Saint Clements Watch house
They went very quietly and were searched but nothing
very Material was found up on That the Constable their
Discharged both the men upon their promising to meet him at
6. o Clock that Evening before the Justices at Bow Street
but
neither of Then to his Knowledge
