The Examination of Benjamin Abrahams< no role > taken
on Oath the Eleventh day of October 1786 before me one
of his Majestys Justices of the Peace for the County of
Middlesex .

Who Saith That on Tuesday Morning the third day of October
Instant betwixt Eleven and twelve O'Clock, William Johnson< no role >
came to this Examinants house and told him he had some Mode [..]
to dispose of and then called another man into this Examinants
house, Johnson then asked Examinant to lend him four
Shillings to redeem the Mode which they had left at Mr.
Levys in Frying Pan Alley for four shillings, but they could
not agree for the Price of it, and that he would let this Examinant
have it on Agreement, And the man whom Johnson called
in remained with this Examinant at his house till Johnson
returned with another man with the Mode above mentioned
Then this Examinant agreed with the three men then present
for the said Silk Mode at a shilling a yard which Measured
Twenty four Ells, and payed the three men (all being together)
the sum of Thirty Shillings for the same, They told this Examinant
they got it from an Acquaintance who wanted money, this
Examinant told them to tell him the truth, if it was of a
friend, then one of the three men said we cut it out of a Loom
with a Knife, and the man whoproducedsaid so, pulled out
a clasp Knife with a light coloured Handle, and said that
this was the Knife that cut if out of the Loom, and that
all of them then told Examinant that he need not be
afraid for nothing would come of it, And at the time of
Agreeing and paying for the said Silk Mode, there was
present a young woman named Fanny, and likewise a
Boy who goes by the name of Solly and lives with this Examinant
who brought into the room where they were some Geneva
who saw the three men there, And that the silk Mode now
produced by this Examinant is the same that was brought
to his house in manner above mentioned, And that [..]
