The Information of William Bonner< no role > Capt . of the Friendship lately Arnoid
from Virginia Lodges at the house of Mr. Bleech near Gun Dock Wapping high
Street Barber taken on Oath the 17th. day of October 1786 who says on Friday
last he Took the person present who says his name is William Campbell< no role > into Shifts,
service on liking if approved to be his Apprentice for Four Years The said William
employed having assisted in taking out the Cargoe of the said Ship desired to be taken as
an Apprentice he being in Distress That on the said day he came and board his said Ship
then lying off King Edward Stairs Wapping . and acted on board as his Servant That
on the Sunday he this Informant came on Shore between the Hours of Twelve and
One at Noon and left the said William Campbell< no role > in charge of his said Ship That
he returned on board on Monday morning about the hour of Eight when a Man
on board belonging to the said Ship informed him That he had come on board on
the Sunday between the Hours of Two and Three in the afternoon and found
The Cabbin door Open The said William Campbell< no role > not on board that he [..] aged
and missed several Things. Says that he this Informant went into the Cabbin
and the Lock of a Trunk broke and the said Trunk open and the Contents
containing Sundry Skirts Cravats Stockings and other things and twenty one
Guineas in Gold Three french Crown pieces and Two or three Dollars which were
in a piece of Parchment in said Trunk taken away Says The several [..]
of Wearing in the Chest produced are his property excepting a pair of blue Trowsers

William Elbey< no role > on his Oath says Yesterday morning he received information
That a Trunk had been broke open on board a Ship. That he [..]
went on board the said Ship Friendship saw the Cap and Mate who described the person
they suspected had robbed the said ShipSays The Mate went with them for some
time in search of the said William Campbell< no role > without SuccessThat they afterwd.
and information from a Waterman that the said William was [..] going to
Gravesend Says at last they heard he was on board a Ship lying near to Cherry
Garden Stairs that they went on board said Ship and apprehended him in the Cabbin
and found the Metal Chain and key and Six Shilling, Two Six penny peices and five
half pence produced in his Pocketand an Iron key which Opens the Chest cont.
Apparell [..] Says he asked him how long he had the said Key who
hesitated but on pressing him said it was the Key of a Chest Which he had bought
and was in the Chamber at the house where he lodged at the Black Lyon on Salt petre Sent
That they went there and found The Chest produced and in the same [..] Nine White
Linnen Shirts Four pair of Silk Stockings Three pair of Silk and Worsted Stocking
Three pair of Worsted Stockings and five pair of Cotton Stockings and on
his Back One White Linnen Shirt; and Two Blankets all which the said Captain claimd
as his own as soon as he saw themwho said [..] the Trowsers in the
said Chest belonged to a Boy on board Said Ship

The said William Campbell< no role > acknowledges his taken the Wearing appearells as expressed in
the Information of William Elbey< no role > and that he took Four Dollars out of the piece of Parchment
produced all of which he took out of a Trunk which was in the Cabbin of the said Ship Friendship
by drawing a Nail of the Lock with an Axe on Sunday last
