charged with felony by Francis Plowden< no role > & William
Plowden
< no role > of the Parish of Saint Giles in the Fields in
the C ounty of Middlesex
; and taken before me William Addington< no role > Esqr
one of his MAJESTY'S Justices of the Peace for the
County of Middlesex , this 7th Day of August
17 86.

Who [..] saith that about 9 o'Clock on Sunday Evening the 30th. of
July last in going from Mr. Francis Plowden< no role > 's House in Great Queen Street
at which time the Street Door was fastened by him, after he came out he turned
on the right hand side intending to go up little Queen Street . that he perceived a
Man or Boy with a large Parcel on his Back, which parcel appeared to be black
that Examinant came up to said Person, and touched him on the Shoulder or Ann
and asked him if he made a practice of carrying Bundles on a Sunday; that said
Man made no Reply but immediately throw down his said Parcel and Ran away
towards Lincolns Inn Fields , leaving this Examinant in possession of said Parcel,
that Examinant stood some time in astonishment, but said Man not returning, he
took said Parcel up, which he found to be a Green Baize Bag that he carried the
said Bag with its contents to John Foothead< no role > This name instance is in set 16081611. his Cousin a Bricklayer in Queen Street
Bloomsbury , whom he told that it was his (this Examinants) own Cloaths and desired
him to take care of it and that he should call in the morning and then after some conversation
and Drinking together, he left said John Foothead< no role > This name instance is in set 1611. that he then returned to said Mr. Plowden
that his Brother Charles Foothead< no role > let him in and they went to Bed, that at this time it
which was about 12 o'Clock; that during the time Examinant was undressing himself said
Charles Foothead< no role > told him that Mr. William Plowden< no role > had lost all his Cloaths that
Examinant expressed a Surprize at it. but did not mention anything relating to
his having picked up the parcel, that about 11 o'Clock the next morning he went to
his said Cousins John Foothead< no role > This name instance is in set 1611. , who was at home, but not know that said bundle
was not Examinant Own property, that he then Examined the said Parcel (no
person being present at that time) and found it to contain a Quantity of Linen and
and wearing apparel now produced, that on Monday last
he took said Parcel from his said Cousins to Mr. Skates's a
Chandler shop in Tottenham Court Road , at which time it was
agreed upon between him and his Cousin to Lodge there together, that he this Examinant
on Friday morning last cut Off the Ends of several Stocks, and otherwise defaced and
cut off the Marks of some of the Shirts, Examinant also acknowledges that he thought
that they were Mr. William Plowden< no role > 's Property, that about one or two o'Clock for
said Friday last he went to Mr. Dobree's Pawnbroker in Oxford Street where he
