The Information of Marmaduke Teasdale< no role > of Caddicks
Row Scotland Yard Agent taken before me this 13th,, day
of June 1786

Who being upon Oath saith that on or about the 30th. of May
last William Ross Darby< no role > now present called at his Office in Caddicks
Row Scotland Yard aforesaid to raise some Money on the Security
of his Commission as an Ensign in the 60th. Regiment of foot
on full pay, and in order to get as large a sum as Possible,
he would assign over as a Collateral Security some Estates
at or near Spilsby in Lincolnshire and in Jamaica; but upon
examining the Abstracts of those Securities he found that they
were of little or no present value, on which Informant returned
them to said Darby and agreed to raise him £150 or £200 on
the Security of his Commission on the usual terms, and intended
so to do, till on his on mentioning the same to one Lieutenant
Antrobus, said Antrobus informed him, that it was or would
be a dead Robbery, for to his certain Knowledge, Said Darby
had assigned it over before, for a like Consideration, to one Capt.
Rutherfordthat Prisons to this Discovery, Informant had several
interviews with said Darby, one of which he believes to be
on the 31st. of May last, when said Darby introduced to Informant John Campbell< no role >
now present, as a Lieutenant on the half pay, of the late 3rd:
Battalion of the 60th. Regiment of foot and said that he had
served with him, for two Years, in that Rank in Jamaica ; but
that the Battalion being reduced at he Peaceand thathe
was then on half payThat he was a Man of good Family
and Connections and wanted to procure on the Security of his half
pay about £180 for the Grant of an Annuity of £30 a Year to
be Repurchased at his PleasureInformant then called for the List
of the Army, and said Campbell turned to said 3rd. Battalion of said
60th. Regiment of foot, and pointed to the Name "John Campbell< no role > "
that at another Visit said Campbell with a Pen marked opposite
