taken before me this
15th. day of January 1785
Who being upon Oath says that between the hours of three
and four oClock in the afternoon of Thursday last two Lads
came into this Informants Brothers Shop in James Street
aforesaid
and told this Informant that a Man had just taken a
Firkin of Butler out of the Warehouse under the Shop
and had ran away with the same under the PiazzaThat
he this Informant went to the Piazza immediately where
he saw a person now present who calls himself Samuel
Lavender< no role >
with a Firkin of Butter on his back (which he
is very sure is his said Brothers Property and was stolen
out of his Shop) on which he tookhimsaid Lavender into
Custody
