The Information ofThomas Timothy Turland< no role > of Saint
John Street in the County of Middlesex patent paper Maker

Taken before Us Nathaniel Conant< no role > Joseph Girdler< no role > and Joseph Faikney< no role >
Esqrs. three of his Majesty's Justices of the peace for the County this 15th
day of May 1784.

Who being upon Oath saith that he lodged at the house of the prisoner
Thomas Peirse situate in Saint John Street in the parish of Saint Sepulchre
in the County of Middlesex from the time the said Thomas Peirse< no role > took the
same until the Fire and this Informant occupied the back Room up
one pair of Stairsthat in the Evening of the third day of May last the
prisoner desired having some of the Lodgers tothis Informant tolet up to let him in as he was going
out to spend the Evening [..] this Informant accordingly sat up for the said
Thomas Peirse till one o'Clock in the Morning of the 4th. say of May when
the said Thomas Peirse< no role > came home and was let in by this Informant who
then went to Bed but the prisoner remainedin the shopdown Stairs in the passage where he said some
timethat about three o'Clock in the Morning of said fourth day of May
this Informant waked and found the House on Fire and immediately got
out of bed and ran into the front Room and was surprised to find that the
Lodgers from thence and every other part of the House had quitted the same
without Calling this Informantthat this Informant said about five
Minutes in the House after he waked endeavouring to save some of his
Goods And this Informant further saith that all the Goods in the First Floor
belonged to him and the Goods on the second Floor belonged to the Lodgers
there and that the prisoner had no Furniture in the said House but what
was contained in a small backshop and in the Room shop and two Garretts the particulars [..]
whereof this Informant is well acquainted with and that he verily believes
the whole was under the value of Twenty pounds and that this Informant
never saw any silver plate in the said House belonging to the prisoner
nor even a Silver Spoon nor any printed Books except three Magazines
and a (another Books).And Lastly this Informant saith that a four days preceeding the
Fire some Goods were removed by the printer from his said House in
Cases and a Bed and Bed dead was also taken down from the
