The Information of Richard Banks< no role > of
the Parish of Holy Trinity in the Minories
in the said County Victr . and William
Wood
< no role > of the same place Cordwainer
taken this 6th day of January 1784

Who being on their Oaths say And First the said
Richard Banks< no role > for himself saith that about four o'
Clock this afternoon he Hung his Great Coat and
his Hat on a Nail in his Tap Room and that the Hat
now produced by the other Informant William Wood< no role >
is the property of him this Informant and the same that
he so hung up in the said Tap room

And the said William Wood< no role > for himself saith
That he was in Mr Banks Tap Room about
five o'Clock this afternoon and that the person
now present who says his Name is James Gerrold< no role >
was also there That he saw the said James Gerrold< no role >
take a Hat from off a Great Coat which hung on a
Nail in the said Tap Room put the same under his
Arm and go out of the Back Door at the same time
having another Hat on his Head, Saith that he Suspected
the Hat which the said James Gerrold< no role > had so taken
was not his own, he Signified such his Suspicious to the
Servant of the said Richard Banks< no role > James Gerrold< no role > who together with
this Informant followed him out and came up withagain sent
him about thirty yards from Mr Banks House &
Stopped him with the said Hat Still under his Ann
Saith that he brought him back to the said House
wherethehe Dropped the said Hat at the Back door
and attempted to get away lastly saith that the
Hat now by him produced is the same identical Hat
that was so dropped by the said James Gerrold< no role >
