called Esquire) said he did not Understand keeping company
with such company this Informant who could not produce
twenty Guineas and said he would Lay him a Wager
ofTwentyTwo Guineas that he this Informant could
not produce twenty Guineas That this Informant
said he could produce twenty Guineas as soon as he
could and therefore laid him the Wager and imediately
went to his Lodgings in Eagle Street Red Lyon Square
and brought twenty Guineas in Gold back to the said
Tavern and said I have Won the Wager Gentlemen
here is the Twenty Guineas and was counting them
on the Table in a Lower Room in the said Tavern
and when he had counted about Seven Guineas he
was knocked down by one of the Mew which Stunned
him and before he could well recover himself The
said Three Men Took [..] away the Money and Made
their Escape out of the House That this Informant
immediately upon Recovering himself went in pursuit
of the said Three Men and Called out Stop Thief
but they all got Clear offAnd this Informant
Saith That being in a Publick House yesterday about
the hour of 4 oClock in the afternoon he heard some
persons Talking of 3 Men being in New Prison
Clerkenwell for Defrauding a Country man of same
(Money he Suggested to himself That the said Three
Men might be the Identical persons who had Robbed
and Beat him as abovementioned and therefore he went to the said
prison in order [..] to See their persons And this
Informant upon his Oath further Saith That
thethree Men now lodged in New Prison Clerkenwell
