Third day of August One thousand seven hundred
and Eighty two
Who on his Oath Saith That he drives on Hackney
Coach for one Mr. Holderness of Hog Lane
in the Parish of Saint
Giles in the fields
That between the hours of Ten and Eleven
o'Clock on Tuesday Night last he his Informant was called from
Goodge Street Strand
to the House of Mr. Brocks near Tottenham
Court
Turnpike and Took up Two Women and a Child with.
Directions to drive them to a certain place called Batch Bridge
in the Parish of Saint Pancras & as this Informant was going
down the New Road
near the Bowling Green
house Eight Men
suddenly Rushed upon him Seized hold of the Horses and
threw them both down upon their back sides and held them
so untill this Informant got from the Coach Box and Seized
hold to one of the Men and got the Horses upon their [..]
again
That Two of the Men were at the heads of the Howes
and Six went to the Coach door That he hold a Conversation with
one of the Men whilst the others were Robbing the persons in
the Coach That one of the Men held a Rusty Cut lass to his
Right Breast and said Damn Your Eyes what Money have you got
and imediately put his Hand in his Right hand Breeches Pockets
and took there out Eight Shillings in Silver
That the Person who Robbe [..] was a Little [..] in a
Brown Surtuout Coat and Appeared to have but One Eye
That they were at the Coach door about Six Minutes and
then bid him drive on which he did and he carried his face
home
That the Two Men now under Examination and who
say their Names are Charles Vercoe< no role >
and John Pass< no role >
were the Identical Persons who first Seized
hold of the Horses and threw them down as aforesaid [..]
