The Information of John Andrew
Hoffman

John Dixon< no role > taken before Us
of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
for the said County

Who being severally upon Oath say And first
this Informant John Andrew Hoffman< no role > for himself
saith that he is a Musician in the Yorkshire light
Dragoons and on Friday the 12th. of July last between
Eleven & twelve oClock at Night as he was going
home to his Quarters at Putney in an Hackney
Coach on the Brompton Road the Coach was
Stopped by three Footpads two of them came One
to the Doors on each side they Opened the Doors and
hollowed out Money this Informant told them he
had none they attempted to search this Informant
but he would not let them he then forced himself out
of the Coach and they beat him very much with
their Sticks. this Informant drew his Hanger
and Struck at them they at last overpowered him
and Robbed him of a Silver Watch, with a Steel
Chain and a Cornelian Seal set in pinch beck
and Seven Guineas in Gold and after that they
took his Hanger from him and Cut him about
the Head & Shoulders very much & stabbed him
in his Right side then went away & left this
Informant who made the best of his way to [..]
[..] a Public House at Knight [..] from whence he was sent
to Hyde Park Hospital And this Informant
further saith that from the Size and appearance
