The Information of Francis Penrose< no role > taken before me this
22nd. day of January 1782

Who being upon Oath says that this Evening between the
hours of five and six oClock as he was passing in the Croud through a
Passage leading to Covent Garden Theatre he felt the hand of a person now
present who calls himself John Simmonds< no role > in his PocketThat
he instantly seized his Hands on which said Simmonds desired him
to search himThat he then let said Simmonds Hands go
and searched himbut did not find anything his Property upon
him Says that he is very sure that he had in his Pocket
a Silk purse containing eight Guineas when he felt said
Simmond's Hand in his Pocket and is very sure that the
said Simmonds stole the same
