frist put the small Pieces of Silver into the Melting Pot, and afterwards
Cut the large pieces with a Pair of Shears which this Informant Borrowed
at his Tinmans. Says that this Plate was melted into about 15 Ingots
Says that Bochers went away about 6 o Clock his Sabbath coming on and that afterwards
Barnard melted the Kings and Watch-Cases himself Says that the
weight of the Silver he believes was upwards of 400 Ounces. Says
that the Persons Present when the Silver was melted were said Bochers
[..] his Wife and this Informant and his Wife Occasionally
that the said Ingots were carried away one or two at a time by said
Bochers and another Few. Says the same evening one Lipe Lyons
and Talbot came to said Barnards Lodgings for Money for said Plate,
Says Barnard told him he was to give them four Shillings Pr. Ounces Says
that said Barnard gave them several Guineas that night. Says that said
Talbot and Lyons came as fast as the Ingots were sold to get Money of
said Barnard. Says that at last said Talbot said Lyon and said Peel came
to another to said Barnard Lodgings when the matter was concluded. Says
that said Barnard told this Informant he had paid the said [..] £130 for [..]
said Plate, Says he heard the name of Coleby mentioned, but said Barnard desired
Talbot not to bring said Coleby to his Lodgings because he had been an Evidence
before. Says that said Barnard told this Informant that said Plate had come
from Lincolns Inn Fields that when said Talbot said Lyon and said Barnard
were together he heardSaid Talbotsaid Lyon declare they had got into
the house backwards and when they had got the Plate they buried it in
a Dunghill near the house until they could get a Box to bring it away
in. Says he was Informed they brought the Plate away in a Coach, for
said Peel asked said Barnard for Money to Pay the Coachman telling him that
he had had a Guinea already and was flash to the Rigg. Says that he
does Suspect and believe from the above Circumstances, that said Talbot said Coleby
said Lyon and said Peel were concerned in robbing the house of Mr. Ewes
in Lincolns Inn Fields of said Plate, and said Barnard Solomon< no role > said
Bochers and the aforesaid Few received the same knowing it to have been
Stolen. Says that the day after the said Plate was melted the said Barnard Solomon< no role > Shewed
this Informant a £10 Bank Note Payable to Ewes or Bearer and said he bought the said Note
[..] for £7 and that it came with the Plate that the said Barnard said he wanted half
a Dozen of Mahogany Chairs and Intended this Informant should go with him to bring
them, this Informant told him he might buy th [..] Bea [..] that the said Barnardhad
told him he would Change the said Note to Pay lot them this Informant answered no he should not
because he knew the Tradesman.
