Andrew Anderson< no role > being first duly sworn in manner aforesaid
Saith that he keeps the Three Cups a Publick House near Cole
Stairs Shadwell that he know William Bartleman< no role > and that on
or about the Twenty Sixth day of April last the aforesaid
William Bartleman applyed to him to purchase some Rice he
pretended he had to sell and was thehisthen property of a Mate of a Ship
of his Acquaintance, that he went on board the Ship Prince
Tom Benjamin Jones< no role > Commander laying at shadwell Dock in
company with the said William Bartleman< no role > who introduced this
Examinane Place Person he afterwards found was the Mate of
that ship and called Paul Preston< no role > as a Personto buy the pretended
Rice, that this Examinant Paul Preston< no role > and William Bartleman< no role >
went down into the Storage going into the great Cabbin where from
underneath a Bed on the Larboard or Left hand side therethey
Matedrew a Cash which ratling discovered it not to be Rice but
Indigo whereon the Mate seemed greatly astonished nevertheless
he offered to sell the same as Indigo but this Deponent declined begin
it as it then was on Ship board [..]

Saith that he will knows William Bartleman one of the now Prisoners
that on or about the Twenty sixth day of April last, the said Williams
Bartleman applyed to him and presented that Capt Jones meaning
Benjamin Jones< no role > Master of th Ship Prince Tom then laying at
Shadwell Dock in the river Thames , had given the Mate some Rice
which he wanted to [..] sell and enquired of this Examinant for a
Purchaser, that he mentioned lalcot Chambre of New Gravel Lane
Shadwell as a man who bought such Kings whereupon the said William
Bartleman
< no role > sent this Examinant, son (an Infant) for the said Calcot
Chamber
