but upon Examination before the said Joseph
Romans [..] and before the other Informant
William how< no role > he confessed that he had taken the
said money with an Intention to deliver to this
Informant & that he had gone to the Water side &
fell asleep & last all the money except Six Guineas
which he had hid in a Shed belonging to him near
the Old Bargehoned in Surry upon which this
Informt & the other two Informts William How< no role >
& Joseph Romand went over to the House of the
said William Smith< no role > & found Eight Guineas now
produced his under a piece of Timberin the said
shed and this Informt. further upon his Oath
saith that from the Circumstance of the said
Smiths going away & leasing him of the Rose &
Crown before he awoke this repeated denial of
knowing anything of it when repeatedly charged
this Informant verily believes that he took the
saud Money within Intent to steal of
and this Informant William Garland< no role > for himself
saith that he was at the Rose & Crown afosed
& these saw the other Informant Samuel
Griffin
< no role > & the said William Smith< no role > together
this Informt also saw the said Samuel Griffin< no role >
goe to sleep & the sd William Smith< no role > & landly
him & saw the said Smith take money
out of the pocket of the said Griffin but what
quantity he cannot tell this Informt also
heard the said Smith deny knowing any
thing of the matter at the time he was charged
with the taking it

And this Informant William How< no role > for himself
saith that about five o'Clock Yesterday afternoon
he went to the other Informt Samuel Griffin< no role >
House where he found him & his Mother in
Tears & the said Griffin In found him of the
loss of his Money that he had received by the sale
of his Boat upon which this Informt persuaded
him to go along with him to the House where he
had lost it which they did & upon enquiry there
the other Informt Wm. Garland told them that he
saw the man who was wish the said Griffin
