take money out of his Pockett upon which this
Informt & Samuel Griffin< no role > went in Search of the
said Wm. Smith< no role > & they met him in James Street< no role >
Covent Garden they asked him where he was going
& his answer was that he was going to the House
in Lambard Court as he heard that he was charged
with taking the money & was going to clear himself
as he thought it very hard that an Innocent man
should be accused & afterwards repeated by denied
knowing any thing of it & continued denying of
it even after he Clements the Justices House
but upon his Examination & without any promise
made to him be confessed that he had taken the
Money & went to sleep by the Water side & that
when he awoke he had but Six Guineas which
he had hid in his shed near the Old Barge house
and this Informt & the other Informant Joseph
Romans went over to the said Shed & found the
Eight Guineas now produced said under a piece
of Timber in the said Shed wrapped up in a paper
and this Informant Joseph Romans for
himself saith that when he took charge of
the said William Smith< no role > he used all the persuance in
that he was Master of to induce him to tell
where the Money was & continued his
sollicitations for near an but he repeated denied removing any thing of them after our but says when
he brought him to the Justice he then sold
this Informant that he could tell him where
part of the money was & this Informant went
went with the other Informant Griffin & How
over the Water to a shed near the Old Barge house
& found the Eight Guineas now produced
