Who being upon Oath says that on Monday Tonight last
a Person now present who calls himself Chas. Pleasants
came to his Shop and purchased two pair of Silk and two
pair of Thread Stockings which he desired to be sent
to his Lodgings at Mr. Piper's in Southampton Street
with
Changefor a Bank BillForBank Note for £20 says
he carried said Goods to sd. Pleasant himself and recd. from
him instead of a Bank Bill a promissory Note now produced
purporting to be the promissory Note of Jno. Meares< no role >
for £11..18s
dated May 29th. 1766 and directed To Mr. Anderson Merchant
in Spittlefields
London
, and farther says that an enquiry has
[..] n made aftersaid Anderson and that no such Person
[..] be found and that he therefore verily believes the sd. promissary
[..] te above described to be false and Counterfeit and published
sd. Pleasant to this Informt. as true with Intent Defaud
