AN INQUISITION indented, taken for our Sovereign LORD the KING, at the House
of Robert Colley< no role > the Sign of the Swan Bayswater in the
Parish of Paddington in the County of
Middlesex , the Second Day of December in the Fortieth Year of the
Reign of our Sovereign LORD GEORGE the Third , by the Grace of GOD of Great-Britain, France
and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, and so forth, before George Hodgson< no role > Gent
one of the CORONERS of our said LORD the KING, for the said County, on View of the Body of
Francis Hughes< no role > then and there lying dead, upon the Oath of
the several Persons whose Names are hereunder-written and Seals affixed, good and lawful
Men of the said County, duly chosen, and who being then and there duly sworn and
charged to inquire, for our said LORD the KING, when, how, and by what Means, the said
Francis Hughes< no role > came to hisher
Death, do, upon their Oath, say, That the said Frances Hughes< no role > on the
twenty ninth Day of November in the Year aforesaid at the
Parish and in the County aforesaid being in a Room third
wherein there was a Pail of boiling Water It so happened
that she fell over the said Pail By Means whereof she was
very much scalded by the Water therein Of which scalding
she languished until the thirtieth [..] day of November
aforesaid and then died And so the Jurors aforesaid do say
that the said Frances Hughes< no role > in Manner and by the
Means aforesaid accidentally came to his Death and not
otherwise
IN WITNESS whereof, as well the said CORONER asthe said John Darby< no role >
the Foreman of the said Jurors, and the Rest of his said Fellows, have, to this Inquisition set
their Hands and Seals, the Day, Year, and Place first above-written.
