Depositions of Witnesses taken at London that is to
say at the parish of Saint Botolph without
Bishopsgate in the Ward of Bishopsgate without
in London aforesaid this 1st day of March 1799
on view of the body of John watts< no role > now here lying
Dead.

William Blizard< no role > of Devonshire Square Surgeon maketh
that about of ¼ past two yesterday morning Dept. was called up to
look at the deced- that the deced was lying on the Ground above
by some Iron Rading of the Quaker meeting house in Cavendish
Court Houndsditch -Dept examined the deced that he was warm
and had an impression round his Neck which appeared to have
been occasioned by a Rope or Cord-There was as appearance
of Life in the deced-that a Mr Gutter was present when Dept
went to the deced-Dept. being of opinion that the deced angal
to be taken to some place and put into warm of Cloathing suggested
Rat it would be proper to take the deced to Bishopsgate workhouse
some of the persons present took the deced away in order to take
him to the work house and Dept saw no ward of him-Dept
her no doubt the mark or Impression round the deced neck
occassioned his Death.

Michael Pearce< no role > a Lodger at an House of belonging to a Wm Reeves< no role >
situated in Adam & Eve Court Dunning's Alley Bishopsgate throat
and a Watchman for the parish of Saint Botolph without Bishops
-gate maketh oath that Dept went on his Boat [..] Devonshire
Street and Cavendish Court about nine Oclock on Wednesday
Night last and received particular directions from Mr. Watson
the Beadle to be careful to look after a man whom he sayed
had [..] attempted that evening and some Evenings too ford to hang himself at
his Master Door in Devonshire Square -That Dept.continued
on his Best and on going round to call the hour of five when
became to the Quaker meeting house the found the deced hanging
by two Handkerchief tied together [..] one [..] fastened around his neck and the
other part thrown over the top of the Iron Gate of the meeting home
Dept called to them pson another watchman who came and he
and Dept get the deced down that he fell warren but appeared
dead-that a surgeon and some other persons came and soon after
