Informations of Witnesses
taken at the Parish of Saint John within
the Borough of Southwark in the
County of Surrey on the 18th day of
april 1792 on view of the Body of Ayre
Jones now here lying dead

John Stirr< no role > a Mariner belonging to the Sloop Henry
of Borton in the County of Lincoln whereof Thomas Wilson< no role > William Griffith< no role >
is now Master lying at Clouders Wharf in the parish of
Saint John Southwark maketh Oath thatbetweenthe hours
of seven and eight in the Evening of Monday last Dept. saw the
deced Ayr Jones go on shore from the Active Sloop of which
Vessel he belonged and which vessel lay on the outside of Dept
Vessel that in a few Minutes afterwardsreturnedthe deced
returned to another Vessel which lay a tier above Dept. and
his own Vessel on accot. of the Wharf alongside of which Dept.
& the deced, Vessel lay being shut upthat the deced
in endeavouring to jump from that Vessel on board of Dept.
fell into the Waterthat he sunk almost immediately under
the Waterthat Dept. gave the alarm and went into a Boat
with another person to try to save the decedthat the person
with Dept. almost touched the deced but that the deced
sunk to quick under the Water they could not save [..]
himthat yesterday Morning about Nine O Clock the deced
was taken out of the Water dead and was taken on Shore.
