Dorcas Williams< no role > maketh oath That She hath a
niece named Hannah Davis< no role > now resident in the Workhouse of the
Parish of St Botolph without Aldgate in the said County aged about
nineteen years who was born in the house known by the Sign of
the Jackle Block Alehouse in the sd Parish & is the Daughter of
William Davis< no role > deced by Hannah < no role > his wife also deced The which
William Davis< no role > lived in & rented the said publick house at the
time of his said Daughters Birth & for Several years before and
after & was charged to & paid parish Taxes for the same & by means
thereof gained a legal Settlement there That the said William Davis< no role >
after he left the said publick house lived in & rented a house as this
Deponent has been informed in the Grange Southwark in the County
of Surry but what rent or Jaseephe paid for such house this Depont
Cannot set forth never having reced any Information relative there to
nor can she set forth or in any way discover whether the said
William Davis< no role > ever did any act to gain a Settlement after he left the
said Jackle Block alehouse & that his said wife died before him
& she can give no account respecting her Settlement saver her Marriage

The above named Hannah Davis< no role > Singlewoman maketh
oath That She was born in the house known by the Sign of the Jackle Bock
ale house in the parish of St Botolph without Aldgate in the sd county That
She is the Daughter of the above named William Davis< no role > by Hannah < no role > his
Wife both deced That her said Father as she has been informed & belives
rented the sd house for divers years & paid parish Taxes for the same That he
removed from thence to a house in the Grange Walk Southwarke in the
parish of St Mary Magdalen Bermond say in the County of Surry being the
Horse Shoe alehouse but how long he lived there or whether he paid any or
What rent or Taxes She cant set forth That She never was bound Apprentice
nor ever lived as a hired Servant for a year nor was ever married nor ever
did any Act to gain a Settlement in her own right.

Mary Jones< no role > Singlewoman maketh oath that She
was born as She has been informed & believes in Crown Court in the
parish of St Botolph without Aldgate in the sd County That She has seen
her late Father Edward Jones< no role > st Indres of Apprenticeship whereby it
appeared that he was bound Apprentice to Thomas Ashworth< no role > late of
King Street in the said parish Brasier & She has also seen a Copy of
her said Fathers Freedom by means whereof She is induced to and
doth verify believe that he Sewed the whole of such Apprenticeship in
the said parish & gained a legal Settlement there That to her knowledge
or belief her sd Father never rented a house of Ten pounds a year or
upwards nor ever Served any Parish office or paid any Poors Rates or
Kings Taxes nor ever did any act to gain a Settlement elsewhere That she
this Depont never was bound an Apprentice nor ever lived as a hired
Servant for a year nor ever did any act to gain a Settlemt for herself
nor was She ever married.

Mary Davis< no role > the widow of William Davis< no role > deced
maketh oath that divers years ago her said late husband rented a
house Called the Jackle Block Alehouse in the parish of Saint
Botolph without Aldgate in the said County & afterwards removed
from thence with this Deponent & his Daughter Hannah Davis< no role >
by a former wife to a House of the yearly Rent of Eleven pounds
known by the Sign of the Horsed in the Grange Road in the
parish of [..] [..] Bepmondden in the [..] County of Surey and
Continued in the occupation of Such last mentioned house for
the Space of a Month & not more & died there at the end of Such
month & this Deponent Continued on the occupation of Such
house for near the end of the year being the Term for which Such
house was taken the said Hannah Davis< no role > continuing there with
this Deponent as part of her Family all that time.
