Singlewoman maketh oath that his Said Sister is at present disordered
in her Mind That he this Deponent has been informed by his late
Parents & believes the Same to be true that he & also his Said Sister
was both born in Blue Boar Court now called Princes Street in
the Parish of St Botolph without Aldgate in the City of London
& this Depont. has also been informed & believes the Same to be true
that his late Father John Cook< no role > deced Served his Apprenticeship
With a Cabinet maker (whose name he has forgot) in the Minories
in the Same parish & by means thereof gained a legal Settlement
there & this Deponent Can give no other Account respecting
his Said Fathers Settlement or of his late Mother deced That to
this Deponents knowledge or belief his Said Sister never
was bound Apprentice nor ever lived as a hired Servant for a
year nor was ever married nor ever did any Act to gain a
Settlement for herself

The Voluntary Examination of Elizabeth
Gerrett
< no role > of the Parish of St Botolph without Aldgate in the
Sd County Singlewoman taken on oath before me one of his
Majesties Justices of the Peace in & for the Sd County this
11th. day of October 1776 -Who Saith That in the Month
of August one thousand Seven hundred & Seventy one at the
Dwelling House one Wm Knox< no role > in Nightingale Lane in
the Parish of St Botolph without Aldgate aforesd She the
Sd Elizabeth Gerrett< no role > was delivered of a Female Bastard
Child and that the Said Bastard Child is become Chargeable
to the Said parish of St Botolph Aldgate & hath been baptized
by the name of Elizabeth Leaver< no role > and that one Samuel
Leaver
< no role > late of Birchin Lane London Taylor & now
on Board the Ship Gatton Captn Money Commr on a Voyage
to the East Indies did get her with child of the Said Bastard
Child.

oath that Sometime ago She was hired & lived as a hired Servant
by the year at Certain Wages by & with one Samuel Nichols< no role >
in Brick Lane in the Parish of Christ Church in the Sd
County Silk Throwster & Continued in Such Service for the
Space of two years & upwards & by means thereof gained a
legal Settlement there That She has act Since lived as a
hired Servant for a year nor been married nor done any
Act to gain a Subsequent Settlement
