Mary Butler< no role > the Wife of John Butler< no role > mariner
maketh oath That her said husband in the month of May last went
out in the Ship Briton Captain Urquhart Commander on a Voyage
from the Port of London to America where this Deponent
Verily believes her Said husband now is That her Said husband
has informed her & Which She Verily believes to be true that he was
duly bound Apprentice by Indenture to his Uncle Jobias Butler< no role >
for the Term of Seven years to learn the art of a mariner That
after this Deponents Said husband had Served about half of his
Said Apprenticeship he removed with his Master from the
parish of Saint George in the Said County to the Dwelling house
of his uncle Martin Butler< no role > into the Minories in the Parish of St
Botolph without Aldgate in the City of London Where her
Sd husband lived & ledged with his Said Master during the
remaining part of his Said Apprenticeship Save Such part thereof
as her Said husband was obliged to be out at Sea with his Said
Master Tobias Butler< no role > & by Means thereof as this Deponent is
advised & believes gained a legal Settlement there That to this
Deponents knowledge or belief her Said husband never rented a house
of Ten pounds a year or upwards nor ever Served any Parish
office or ever paid any poors Rates or Kings Taxes nor ever did
any Act to gain a Subsequent Settlement & that She was lawfully
married to her Said husband.
