Continued Thursday 17th. July 1788

following Vizt. In pursuance of an Order of Court of the 25th. day of
April last this Committee met this day to consider of a Report to be
made of the persons nominated at the said Court to be Governors of
Bridewell and Bethlem Hospitals and are of opinion the Gentleman
following are very proper Persons to be Governors of these Hospitals if the Court
shall think fit Vizt.

Francis Hammond< no role > of Potters Bar in the County of Hertford Esquire

Mr. Samuel Thompson< no role > of Saint Paul's Church Yard

All which is nevertheless submitted to the Judgment of the Court and Ordered
to be Reported to the next General Court. This Court having duly
weighed and considered the said Report doth Order that the same be
Confirmed and that Slaves be forthwith sent to the above Gentlemen.

Elected a Governor

Upon Reading an Order of the Court of Common Council in the
words and figures following Vizt. Burnell Mayor a Common Council
holden in the Chamber of the Guildhall of the City of London on
Friday the 9th. day of May 1788 The Common Council Men of the several
Wards of Farringdon without and Portsoken having met together
Agreeable to the several Resolutions of this Court of the twentieth day
of February 1783 Did this day Present Mr. Deputy John Nichols< no role >
of the Ward of Farringdon without to be Governor of Bridewell and
Bethlem Hospitals in the Room of Mr Deputy Thomas Thorp< no role > deceased
This Court doth therefore nominate and appoint him Governor of the
said Hospitals accordingly Rix It is Ordered that the said
Resolution be entered in the Minutes of this Court.

her Legacy of 300 Guineas

At this Court an Extract of the Will of Margaretta
Anna Adams of the Parish of Saint Mary Le Bone in the County of
Middlesex Spinster bearing date the 5th. day of April 1788 and
proved the 21st. day of June 1788 was read whereby 300 Guineas is
given to Bethlem Hospital

£50 reported


Richard Clark< no role > Esqr Aldn . Treasurer Reported that he had
received of John Puget< no role > of John Street Bedford Row Esquire £50 for
the use of Bridewell and Bethlem Hospitals It was moved and
seconded that the thanks of this Court be given to Mr. Puget for
his kind and charitable Donation

of £50 Reported

received of Henry Evans< no role > of Hallon Garden Esqr . £50 for the use
of Bridewell and Bethlem Hospitals It was moved and
