Continued Wednesday 27th. July 1768

Powers for Bodies Corporate and Collegiate to contract or agree and
in Default thereof for settling the Value by a Jury And Power is
also given to fill up the said Channel (therein improperly called
Bridewell Dock lying between the said River and Fleet Bridge or
such part thereof as they should think necessary and to make the Surface
or Top the Soil or new Ground (with which the said Channel should
be filled) even and level with the Surface or Superficies of the Streets
or Passages then on each side of and running paralell with the
said Channel But no Distinction is made between the said Channel
and Dock nor is the Seperate independant Right of your Memorialists
to the said Dock and Navigation thereof mentioned or disclosed

That your Worships were pleased to make an Order on or about
the 3d. Day of May last touching sundry Lands and Hereditaments
part of the said Hospital and their Possessions supposed to be proper
and necessary for making or Enlarging the Street or Avenue to the
said Bridge And Your Worships (with Propriety and Civility) were
pleased to desire a Conference with your Memorialists on the Subject
Matter of the said Order which referred to a Scheme of Your Worships
Surveyor and a Map or Plan for explaining the same

That upon Examining such Scheme Map or Plan your Memorialists
observed that if the same was carried into Execution great part of
the Buildings and one of the Courts of the said Hospital will be intirely
Destroyed and Demolished and the Residue rendered Irregular and
inconvenient if not useless and Uninhabitable To the Subversion or
Diminution of the said Charity

That your Memorialists likewise Observe that your Worships
Surveyor hath thought proper to Consider and Estimate not only
the said Dock but a Considerable other part of Your Memorialists
Lands near and adjoining thereto as belonging to the CityAnd
hath been pleased to propose giving to Your Memorialists their own
Land as a Consideration for taking away a great and very valuable
part of their property

That upon a Conference which your Memorialists had the
Pleasure to have lately with your Worships It appeared and was
agreed to be adviseable that a written Answer should be given to the
Demand made by your Worships Surveyor and your Memorialists
having referred the Consideration of the said Scheme Map and Plan
to the Surveyor of the said Hospital he hath made a Report in the
Words or to the Effect following

That Your Memorialists have the strongest Confidence and
Dependance that your Worships (acting as Trustees in a Committee
under very Extraordinary and Extensive Powers deligated by
