Gratuity of £26 ordd. him


A Motion being made that in Regard to the extraordinary
Diligence of Mr. John Brown< no role > the Porter o this Hospital a Gratuity
be given him for his good Services for the time past and the Sum
of Twenty Five Pounds being now proposed and the Question there upon
put- It is Ordered that the Clerk do pay the said John Brown< no role >
Twenty Five pounds as a Gratuity for his said Services to be
allowed him in his next Account.

£10 Mr. Fowkes Gift


Mr. Samuel Read< no role > and Mr. Samuel Bates< no role > two of the governors -
reported that in pursuance of an Order of Court of the 12th. Day of
May last they had made Inquiry and found that Robert Carter< no role > who
served his Apprentiship to James Smith< no role > late one of the Artsmasters
of this Hospital is set up for himself in his Trade and has the
Character of a Diligent and Sober Man-It is Ordered that the
Clerk do pay the said Robert Carter< no role > Ten pounds to be allowed him
in his next Account.

after for Mr. Locks's Gift


Upon Reading the Humble Petition of Charles Wright< no role > Citizen &
Merchant Taylor Setting forth that he served his Apprentiship in
this Hospital to Robert Hadwen< no role > one of the Artsmasters by Indenture
Dated 10th. of May 1754 and by Order of Court of. 7th. March 1764
was made free of this City the 5th. of February 1766 and is set up
for himself in his said Trade in Chick Lane Smith field praying part
of Mr. Locks Gift It is Ordered that Mr. Deputy Gamon Mr. Saml.
Bates
< no role > and Mr. Maurice Griffiths< no role > or any two of them be desired to
Inquire if the said Charles Wright< no role > be set up for himself in his said
Trade and of his Hopefullness therein and Report the same to the
Court
