Order of Bridge Committee
for delivering Proposal & Plan
to-Govrs. of Bridewell

Whereas at a Meeting of the New Bridge Committee holden
at Guildhall
Tuesday 3rd. of May 1738. It was Ordered that
the Clerk of the sd. Committee shod. wait on Mr. Wood house Clerk of this
Hospital and deliver him a Copy of the Proposal intended to take
Place between the Worshipful the President treasurer
& governors
of the said Hospital and the Worshipful Comittee of Common-
Council for building a Bridge from Black Fryars
Etc together with
a Copy of the Plan of the New Street leading to the Bridge so far
as related to the said Hospital,-And that he should request the Favor
of him to lay the same before the President treasurer
& governors
of
the said Hospital for their Consideration; And to acquaint him that
the Bridge Committee desired the Favour of a Meeting with them in Order
that the several Matters contained in the said Proposal might be carried
into Execution for the Purposes of making the said New Street
And Where as Mr. Edwd. Bathurst< no role >

did soon afterwards deliver to Mr. Wood house a Copy of Such Proposal
in the Words following Vizt.

Proposal intended to take place between the Worshipful
the President treasurer
and governors
of Bridewell Hospital
and the Worshipful Committee of Common Council for Building
a Bridge from Blackfriars
The Quantity of Ground coloured Blue in the Plan being 7332-
Superficial Feet to be given up by the Hospital and to be laid
into Streetor Kings Highway
The Quantity of Ground coloured Yellow being 12847 superf [..] all
Feet to be taken possession of by the Hospital for the Purposes of-
Building on and to have free Egness and Regress to and from the
Fronts of the same as in the Case of Streets & the Kings Highway
The Leases and Interests of the Tenants and Undertenants possessed
of or any ways Enterested in the Navigation of Bridewell Dock
and
the Wharfs adjoining to the same to be purchased by and at the Expence
of the Bridge Committee
The Dock or Ditch so far as it is open at present to be arched
over and filled in by and at the Expence of the Bridge Committee
in the same manner as the upper part of it has been done
As there will be 5515 Superficial Feet of Ground obtained by
the Hospital more than they will give up for the purposes of Streets
according to the above mentioned Exchange and that being Estimated
worth £1035-The Hospital to pay the Bridge Commee the sd. Sum
With respect to the Hospital itself the Buildings standing on the
Ground coloured Blue to be taken down the present Gateway for
Carriages to be added to the Portees or Shoemaker's House the Court
Yard to be raised and new paved so as to answer the Level of
