Continued Thursday 17th Febry 1757.

The Petition of the Candidates for the place of Porter to this Hospital in the
Room of Richard Pice< no role > deceased being read in Alphabetical Order Vizt. John
Campe
< no role > , Richard Grainger< no role > , Richard Heyborne< no role > and Samuel Mackley< no role > the said Richard
Heyborne with draw his Petition. And The Governors gave their Ballots for the
other three which being last up the Numbers Appeared to be as follows Vizt.

the Porter of Bridewell Hospital
[..] is an Order of Court 23d.
decd. 1741Lib X pu 131.C.C.


Whereupon The Right Worshipfull Sir Richard Glyn< no role > Knt. And Alderman
President declared the said Samuel Mackley< no role > to be duly Elected porter of the said
Hospital till the next Election dayAnd it is Ordered that upon his
giving such Security as shall be Approved by the Comittee of this House That he
and his Family upon Notice given to or left for him or them by Order of the
President or Treasurer and any Twelve of the Governors of this Hospital for the
time being will depart from this Hospital, And also to Indempinfy the Governors
of this Hospital and their Sucessors And the said Hospital and the precinct
thereof and the Inhabitants there in from all Charges and Demands for or by reason
of his the said Samuel Mackley be Admitted Porter of the said Hospital till the next
Election dayAnd that he shall have and Enjoy the Usual Salary and
Perquisites of the said Office and also the Rooms and Chambers in this Hospital
which the said Richard Pice hadAnd it is further Order'd that the
said Samuels Mackly be Sworn Constable of this Hospital and precinct as his
Predecessors in the said have usually been.

Samuel Mackley now Elected porter being called in prayed leave
to resign his Staff as a Governor which the Court Accepted and Order'd his Name
to be left out of the List of Govrs. for the Future.
