At this Court the humble Petition of Josiah Ketteridge< no role > Engin
Weaver (one of the Artsmasters ) was read setting forthThat he
knowing the Govrs. order that no more than two Engin Weavers shou'd
be resident this Hospital at one time Did pray to be admitted & was
Admitted an Artsmaster and having taken as many Apprentices as
His business wou'd permitt before the late Mourning which Caused
such a Damp to Trade That he has a great quantity of Manufactured
Goods upon his hands & has been obliged to take 30 of his 6 Apprentices
from the Loom & put 'em to other work at which they can earn but 6d.
a day And that Mr. Dell Orrice Weaver in the Hospital has not
only set up Engins in Black fryers but also prepares the Work for the
Looms at his Appartment in this Hospital and when it is manufactured
it is brought there and Sold and Show board put over his door
declareing himself the maker to the Great Detriment of the Petitioner
who apprehends (if the sd. Dell is Suffered to carry it on) it will be
a hindrance to taking Apprentices for the futureAnd praying
such relief as to the Governors shall seem meetWhereupon
It is Ordered that the Orders relateing to the Artsmasters in this
Hospital be laid before the next Court.

Upon Reading the Humble Petition of Godfrey Thornton< no role > Esqr . & Samuel
Handley
< no role > Esqr . Setting forthThat the Governors Agreed to Devise to Mr.
John Hardcastle< no role > of Ground in Old Bethlem (No. 7, 8 ) part of the possession of
[..] 129 feet 3 Inches from 6 feet Westward [..] the [..]
Shop to the Eastside of an Old Passage of 8 feet [..] from Laday 1751
for 622 years at a Pepper Corn for the first 2 years and £25 P Ann
clear of Taxes for the residue of the sd. Term The Petrs. have agreed
with the sd. Mr. Hardcastle to take East of them 36 feet being the
Westen most part of the said Ground being the Passage 11 feet made
instead of 8 feet as was intended laid desire that a Seperate Lease may
be made to each of them of 36 feet end each at 25 P Ann Ground rent
and they out of them agree to lay out £1750 in building a Capital house
with Court houses and Stablas of the Governors will [..] them
with a longer Term than was agreed to be granted to Hardcastle He
being obliged only to lay out £2000 on the whole ground and desire
they may not be obliged to build their Coach houses and Stables more
than 2 feet Distant from the House abutting South on the Hospital
ground instead of 6 feet mentioned in the Agreement with
HardcastleIt is Ordered that the sd. Petition be
Raferred to the Comittee of the House to Consider thereof and
Report their Opinion thereon to the Court.
