Continued Thursday 26th March 1752

Upon which Case Mr. Recorder Adams has given his Opinion
That this precinct of Bridewell is of Sufficient Extent and Number
of Houses and Inhabitants to be Denominated a Village within the
meaning of the Statute 13 & 14 Car C.12. and Consequently liable
to have Overseers of the poor Appointed therein. which Appointmts.
the Justices of the peace have power to make as in other Cases, or if
they refuse the Keys Court of Kings Bench, will grant as Mandamus
to Oblige them to itAnd this Comittee are of Opinion that
the Precinct shou'd not Opose any Steps the Parish of Saint
Brides shall be advised to take in this Matter All which is
Nevertheless Submitted to the Judgment of the CourtThis
Court haveing Duely weighed and Considered the said Report
Doth Confirm the same.

Hospital dated the 17th. of March 1752 under the hands of Dr

it be Reported to the next Court It is the Opinion of this Comittee
it woud be a great Saving to have a Brew house Erected in Bethlem
Hospital It is Ordered that it be referred back to the Grand Comittee to [..]
into the Charge of building a Brewhouse in Bethlem Hospital & form is being it
with proper Utensils and Casks, and what will be the Annual Expence of
Servants Necessary to carry on the business of Brewing [..] And to lay on Estimate
of the particulars before the CourtAnd that the Governors who are
Brewers be Added to the said Comittee for this purposes

At this Court the Several humble Petitions of John Nathaniel Didcutt< no role >
James Farnsworth, David Jones< no role > and George Tisdale< no role > were read Setting forthThat
they are willing to take such a Number of Apprentices as the Court shall think fit
& to keep their Appartment in repair with Glazing Plaistering & Whitening at
their own Expence as is usually done by the Artsmaster and to Comply with
all Orders of the Court and Comittee made and to be made in relations to
Artsmasters And praying to be Elected an Artsmaster in the roome of Mr. George Meale< no role >
decedThe Governors gave their Ballots which being Cast up the Numbers
Appeared to be as follows Vizt.For John Nathaniel Didcutt 6Jas Farnsworth 30
David Jones& George TisdaleWhereupon The Right
Worshipfull Robert Alsop< no role > Esq Aldn. Trear declared the said James
Farnsworth
< no role > duly Elected And it is Ordered that the sd. James Farnsworth
(upon delivering a Certificate of his Settlement to the Clerk and preducing a
Copy of his Freedom of this City) be Admitted an Artsmaster of this Hospital
untill the next Election day upon giving Security as is usual in the like Case
And it is Ordered that he have such Appartment as the Comittee
of this House shall think fit
