Mr Samuel John< no role > and John Lock< no role > Esq two of the Governors
Reported that in Pursuance of an Order of Court 11th. of April 1751
they had made Enquiry and found that John Arnold< no role > Shoemaker
who Served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital (to Mr. Wm. Wender)
is Set up for himself in his said Trade and has the Character of
a Diligent and SobermanIt is Ordered that the Steward
of this Hospital Do pay to the said John Arnold Ten Pounds out
of Mr Locks Gift to be Allowed him in his next Account.

Benjamin Bailey< no role > of the Precinct of Bridewell
London Carpenter proposed for the 4 Old ruinions Houses with the yards
part of the Possesions of Bridewell Hospital Scituate in the said
Precinct on the West side of Fleet ditch containing in Front from
North to South 66 feet 2 Inches or thereabouts & abutting North on
Mr. Gibbon's Yard & South on Mr. Sleath's House & being irregular
Westward According to a Plan said before the Comee to take a Lease
thereof from Xmas next (1751) for 61 years at a Pepper Corn rent for the first Year
and £6 P Ann rent clear of Taxes for the Remr. of the Term
And within one Year of lay out £300 in building a Substantial
Brick house According to the 2d. rate of building on part of the premes
and £100 in Stables and Sheds on other part thereof and to pay £10 for
the Old Materials now upon the PremesThe Lease to contain
usual Covenants between the Govrs. & their Tenants in the sd. Precinct &
a Covenant that he will within One Year lay out £300 in building
a Substantial brick House According to the 2d. rate of Building on part
of the premes and £100 in Stables and Shed on other part thereof
and give the Govrs. a true Account thereof when required and that he
or the Tenant or Occupyer of the sd. Messe or Tenemant from time to
time will Serve the Office of Chappell warden of the sd. Precinct when
Elected thereto in the usual Manner and will pay to the Chappel wardens
of the sd. Hospl. Precinct for the time being all such Sums of Money as at
the usual Meetings Comonaly called Vestry Meetings of the sd. Chappel warden
and Inhabitants of the said Hospital & Precinct shall from time to time be
rated or Assessed upon the Occupyer of the said Premes in Equal Proportion
with the rest of the Tenants or Occupyers of the Resses of Tenements in the
sd. Precinct towards the Charge of the Scavenger Watch & poor of the sd. Precinct
And this Comee haveing Considered the sd. proposal are of Opinion to the next
the same And the sd. Benjamine Bailey being called in & Acquainted
there with Agreed thereto & gave a Guinea to the poors box Allowed is Nevertheless
Submitted to the Judgment of the CourtThis Court having duly weighed
and considered the sd. Report Doth Confirm the same And Order That
a Lease be made to the said Benjamine Bailey Accordingly.
