Amount of such Bills, if he shall think proper to accept the same, which
being Seconded was carried in the Affirmative - and Mr Leroux being
acquainted therewith and having agreed to accept the same in full
discharge of the said Sum of £629..14..- Ordered that the Clerk
of the Peace do make out an Order on the Treasurer of this County for
payment of the said Sum of £400 to the said Jacob Leroux< no role > Esquire
accordingly.

By adjournment same day

The Clerk of the Peace having Read the Order of this Court of April
Session last appointing a Select Committee for conducting the Business
of the Building of the new intended House of Correction for this County
Henry Holland< no role > Esqr . one of the Members of the said Committee Reported
from them that they found it a necessary part of the Contracts which
are preparing to offer publickly to Contractors that it should be stated
at what Periods and by what Installments the amount any Contract
should be paid; and that the Committee Conceived no power was given
by the order of Reference to make such Statements and they therefore desired
that the same might be taken into Consideration and that such an Order
might be made as to the Sessions should appear to be most proper, and
the same being accordingly taken into Consideration - Resolved that
the Select Committee for conducting the Business of the Building of the
New intended House of Correction for this County be and they are hereby
Empowered to insert in the Contract such Modes of Payments as shall
appear to them to be most expedient and for the interest and benefit of the
County - The day being too far Spent to go into the Consideration of the
proper steps to be taken for raising Money for purchasing the Ground & building
the New House of Correction - Resolved that this Court be adjourned
to the 7th. day of September next at 11 o'Clock to take into Consideration the
proper Steps for raising the Sum of Money necessary for purchasing
Ground and building a New House of Correction and other Matters
Relative thereto.
