319. CHARLES EDLESTON proceedingsdefend was indicted for stealing, on 22d of May , one handkerchief, value 5s., the goods of Edward Haynes proceedingsvictim , from his person .

EDWARD HAYNES. On the 22d of May, I was passing through the Court-yard of St. James's Palace ; there was a great crowd. I felt some person at my pocket - I turned round, and laid hold of the prisoner. I found my handkerchief sticking out of the flap of the prisoner's breeches, and gave him in charge.

Prisoner's Defence. I found it.

GUILTY . Aged 21.

Transported for Life .
