405. SAMUEL BROUGHTON proceedingsdefend was indicted for obtaining goods by false pretences, with intent to defraud Peter Wells proceedingsvictim , and Co. proceedingsvictim

The prisoner brought an order for goods as from William Hewitt < no role > , of Turnham-green, who was a customer of the prosecutor's; in consequence of which the goods were delivered to him, and were afterwards found at the house of Stephen Yoell < no role > , to whom he had sold them for three pounds thirteen shillings.

PRISONER's DEFENCE.

This is the first offence I ever committed.

GUILTY .

Transported for seven years .

Tried by the London Jury before Mr. ROSE.
