Mary Hunt proceedingsdefend , of the Parish of St. Dunstans in the West , was indicted for privately Stealing 16 Yards of Muslin value 4 l. out of the Shop of James Scott proceedingsvictim , on the 15th of December last . It appeared, that the Prisoner came into the Shop to buy some Fustian, but being gone, they mistrusted her to be a Shop-lifter, brought her back to the Threshold of the Door, near the end of the Counter, where the Goods was found dirty. The Prisoner denied the Fact, saying, That she did come to the Shop, and did buy some Fustian, but did not medle with any thing: There was no Evidence saw her take the Goods, nor nothing being found upon her; the Jury acquitted her.
