Elizabeth Lucas proceedingsdefend , of the Parish of St. Magnus the Martyr , was Indicted for feloniously stealing 50 Yards of Worsted Stuff, value 40 s. on the 26th of July last, the Goods of John Heath proceedingsvictim . Mr. Heath's Wife deposed that the Prisoner came into the Shop, pretending to buy some Goods, and took her opportunity and convey'd the piece of Stuff under her Petticoat: A little after she pretended she did not like the Goods, and was going out of the Shop, but was stopt, and the Goods pulled from under her Cloths. The Prisoner alledg'd that she knew nothing of it, and was not sensible at that time what she did, nor never did an ill thing, or was ever before a Judge or Justice in all her Life. The Jury having considered the Matter, found her Guilty to the value of 10 d.
