Examination TextJohn Calloway aged about 26 Years Lodging at the Workhouse Saith he was never Married Saith he never was bound an Apprentice, was a Servant to Mr Mandevill at the Cellar under the New Exchange in the Strand, near a Year, and no Wages, only Diet and Lodging, saith left him about a Year agoe Saith before, he was a yearly hired Servant to Mr Samuel Peters who kept the Bedford Head Tavern in Southampton Street two Years & as a Consideration for his Service allotted his Master agreed to give him the Rent which should be had or gotton from time to time for the Hall and the Door of the House of the said Samuel Peters during so long time as he should continue, with him, Diet & Lodging, left the same about five years agoe & never was a Yearly hired Servant a whole Year together to any Person before or since, Saith he was Born in Durham Yard in the Strand where his ffather kept house severall Years at £16 Pr Ann Rent & paid all Parochial Taxes & died there.
