Examination TextThe Examination of Margaret Morrison singlewoman lodging at William Kingston a Porter who lodges at [blank] Low a Taylor in Vine Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this third Day of February 1750. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 28 years of age and never was married kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes, but that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr John Nind an attorney in York Buildings in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of 12 months at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about six weeks, And this Examinant upon her voluntary oath further says that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish, and that Richard Stone late a Footman to Mr Nind aforesaid had carnal knowledge of her body about the beginning of June last in and upon a bed in a room up one pair of stairs backwards in a house of Mr Nind aforesaid and several times afterwards at the same place at which or one of which times he the said Richard Stone did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant off, and that he the said Richard Stone is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before James Fraser.
