Examination TextRachel Mottersed aged 58 years and upwards in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of John Mottersed (who has been dead about nine years) to whom she was married at the ffleet 14 years next June (as by her husband's examination book 31 page 23), that he never was bred to any trade was born in Villers Street York Buildings (as she this Examinant has heard her said husband say), that he never was bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together, that his father Thomas Mottersed lived in and rented an house in Villers Street York Buildings in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields near 20 years, but what rent paid she knows not, but that she has heard that he died there in the said house which is about 30 years ago as by her husband's examination, that she has one child living by her said husband to wit Robert aged about nine years, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes since the death of her said husband. Sworn the 30th Day of April 1751 before James Fraser.
